The Angel of the NorthThe Angel of the North is Britain's largest and most impressive sculpture. It stands near the A1 in Gateshead in the North East of England, marking the southern entry to Tyneside and on the edge of the Great North Forest.

The sculpture was made from 200 tonnes of steel and has attracted world-wide attention since it was assembled on site in February 1998.

Facts, It is made of weather resistant steel, containing copper. Below the structure are concrete piles 22 metres deep. The body is hollow to allow for internal inspections. It is built to withstand winds of more than 100 miles per hour
