The Grand old Duke of York

The Grand old Duke of York he had ten thousand men
He marched them up to the top of the hill

More English history, this time its telling us the story of Richard (Duke of York) defeat in the Wars of the Roses back in 1455. Richard marched his army to Sandal Castle (On a hill)

The Wars of the Roses was so called because the army's symbols were roses. This war lasted over 30 years !
